Paletta.

Sinopsis

Paletta is an artistic project in the field of photography, in blog format.

It arose from analyzing the first-person sensations and experiences of what the universal chaos that erupted in March 2020 produced. Spain locked itself away in its homes, with situations of solitude, and many others with an excess of company. It was a process of adaptation to the environment, the schedule, and the news that bombarded all media outlets and social networks. In this hybridization process with the home, and the case of some with intensive work, new individual thoughts appeared that modified how many human beings acted, expressed themselves, and thought.

Portraits in quarantine

The map of portraits is a painter's palette, where the colors are wet, in continuous change to reach the indicated tone, just as it happens with life. Strong changes can lead us to the right points sooner or take us further away from them; both situations are valid for moving forward.

Paletta is composed of stories of people who have undergone an artistic, mental, or physical evolution during the quarantine period from March to June. The profile of each person is used to create a portrait that characterizes one or different aspects of their story and can be transmitted to the viewers of the project.

¨I finished some painting projects halfway done; I started painting again during the quarantine. I went through a rather tricky inner journey, it was a pretty good healing period, which I am continuing some time later.¨

"I've been at home with my parents and my sister. By the end of the quarantine, we all had sudden and senseless mood swings.

During the quarantine, I've been making illustrations for t-shirt designs."

"I focused on practicing singing and especially dancing, as I decided to learn new styles that I hadn't tried before through online classes. Before the pandemic, I looked for moments of tranquility where I would be more inspired and mentally prepared to rehearse dancing or singing, study, or create. Once a global pandemic forces you to stop, forces you to stay home, and in one way or another, everything you were putting aside or were afraid to face is presented to you, you understand that there are no good moments for something. Every moment is susceptible to being “suitable.” If even in the tranquility of home and without having to go to work there are days and streaks when creativity or productivity doesn't arise, how could I have expected that in the daily frenzy of obligations, deadlines, schedules, traffic, duties, etc., there would be an ideal moment to start what I would like to do? My perception of creation changed; now I understand that nothing external paralyzes the beginning of new activities."

"I missed the occasional simple things like going for a walk, eating out, or meeting up with my friends. My perception of life or way of feeling has perhaps changed in the sense that I value my “freedom” more because of having experienced a quarantine, which was something I had never gone through before, and the importance of communication to feel accompanied in moments like that."

"During the quarantine, I developed a consistent work habit. Producing music, writing songs, training, planning projects."

"During the quarantine, there was a pause in my neuropsychology master's degree. At first, I liked having time to do all the things I needed to do, but as time went on, my distractions ran out."

"I started listening to a lot more music. Several artists got together to do intertwined live streams. I spent the whole afternoon watching all the live streams, searching the internet, and that's when I started to discover many bands and singers."

To do list. Mint

"What I did was play the ukulele, watch trashy TV series, clean up the information on my PC, rearrange the furniture, paint, and fix imperfections around the house. I bought a giant paella pan and a lock-picking kit. I would ask permission to walk my new flatmate's dog.

I decided to start thinking about myself, which is something I've always ignored.

Cultivate patience and try to change my way of seeing things. I suppose that when you're forced to stop your life, the least you can do is rethink things."

"I've felt comfortable, especially since I was surrounded by my family. I was in charge of grocery shopping, and we lived as if in a timeless capsule inside the house.

Otherwise, it allowed me to focus on my literary work and delve into a novel that turns out to be a premonition: a nighttime train journey through Romania, in which the protagonist is alone, locked in, and reflecting."
